Sewa Bharati Awadh Prant & NDRF Conduct CBDRR Training-2; 286 Trainees Equipped with Disaster Management Skills

Lucknow: Sewa Bharati Awadh Prant, in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), successfully organized the second edition of the Youth and Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR) Training Program at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Sector-Q, Aliganj, Lucknow. The training witnessed the participation of 286 trainees from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Shiksha Varg (Special), Eastern Uttar Pradesh, who received practical and theoretical training in disaster preparedness, response, and community resilience.

The program was presided over by Mr. Rajnish Kumar Gupta, General Secretary, Sewa Bharati Awadh Prant. Mr. Virendra Ji, Karyawah of the RSS Shiksha Varg (Special), attended as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Naveen Sharma, Deputy Commandant, NDRF, was present as the Guest of Honour. The proceedings were conducted by Mr. Ram Mohan Gupta, Training Head, Sewa Bharati Awadh Prant.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Rajnish Kumar Gupta emphasized that disaster management is not solely the responsibility of government agencies but a collective social responsibility. He highlighted the importance of community participation, volunteerism, and preparedness in minimizing the impact of disasters and encouraged the youth to actively contribute towards nation-building through service and social responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Surya Prakash Tiwari, Disaster Management Head, Sewa Bharati Awadh Prant, underlined the significance of Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR). He stated that an aware, trained, and organized community is the first line of defense during any emergency and stressed the need for regular training and preparedness at the grassroots level.

Mr. Nikhil Gangwar, Member of the Rashtriya Sewa Bharati Disaster Response Team, delivered an informative session on the principles and practical aspects of CBDRR. He discussed disaster preparedness, risk assessment, community participation, local resource mobilization, and strategies to reduce vulnerabilities before disasters occur.

Guest of Honour Mr. Naveen Sharma, Deputy Commandant, NDRF, provided valuable insights into the formation, objectives, and operational framework of the National Disaster Response Force. He highlighted the crucial role played by trained volunteers during the initial hours of a disaster and emphasized that timely action and proper training can significantly reduce loss of life and property.

The practical training sessions were conducted by the NDRF team comprising Inspector Ajay Singh, Head Constable Subodh Singh, Constable Nitin Singh, Mr. Sarvesh Kumar, and Mr. Durgesh Singh. Through mock drills, demonstrations, and interactive activities, participants were trained in earthquake safety measures, flood response, fire safety, first aid, evacuation techniques, and search-and-rescue operations.

Mr. Abhishek Kumar Singh, Prant Prachar Pramukh, Sewa Bharati Awadh Prant, managed the overall coordination and successful execution of the training program. Under his guidance, effective coordination among various departments, guest management, training logistics, and participant facilitation were ensured throughout the event.

The program also received active support from Mr. Manshabakhsh Rajawat, Treasurer, Sewa Bharati Awadh Prant; Mr. Alok Ji, General Secretary, Sewa Bharati Lucknow Vibhag; Mr. Akash Ji, Publicity Head, Lucknow Vibhag; and Mr. Omkar Gautam, Office Head, Sewa Bharati Awadh Prant, whose contributions played a significant role in the successful organization of the event.

Among those present on the occasion were Mr. Pawan Ji, Administrator of the RSS Shiksha Varg, senior RSS functionaries, Mr. Deendayal Ji, Prant Seva Pramukh, Mr. Subhash Ji, Mr. Jaiprakash Ji, and several other dignitaries and volunteers.
At the conclusion of the program, participation certificates were distributed to all trainees. The dignitaries appreciated the initiative and described such capacity-building programs as essential for creating a disaster-resilient society and empowering communities to respond effectively during emergencies.

The CBDRR Training-2 program marked another significant step towards strengthening disaster preparedness among youth, enhancing community resilience, and developing a network of trained volunteers capable of providing timely and effective assistance during disasters and humanitarian emergencies.
